Press On to Know Him

I have missed this view more than I had realized! This was the view of my morning walk yesterday. I had to snap a picture as I turned the corner, the beauty of this picture always makes me smile!
I don’t walk or exercise all the time, but when I do make time to take a walk to start my morning, I am never sorry! When I do make the time, and the effort to walk, I am reminded of the good it not only does my body but my soul too.

While walking, I asked myself why I don’t do this more often. Why don’t I make this part of my everyday routine? Why do I let other things get in the way of this? I only walked for 20 minutes, but in that time it gives my soul time to breath. It gives my heart, and my mind time to clear out and focus on what’s most important. I can look around at the things around me and just BE. I don’t know about you, but I have so many people and so many things begging for my attention on a daily basis. Even this post is taking up part of your day.

These walks are where I can meet with the Lord and walk and talk with Him. It has always been something I treasure, a time I look forward to. So that is why I don’t understand why I do it so little. I allow other things to take priority over my time with the Lord. I choose what is easy over what is worth it.

As I turned the corner of the track that morning, I was reminded of a verse in Hosea that talks about “pressing on to know Him” That’s what I felt like I was doing. Not only was I walking for the act of exercise, but I was also taking each step with Him. Each step I took, I continued to press on, press on to talk to Him. Press on to listen to Him. I knew as soon as I got back in my car to start my day that the world would demand my attention. I just continued to walk and talk with the Lord. I want to remember this forever. I want to remember the feeling of not wanting to leave that place. That place of being in the presence of God, even on the walking track.
Maybe your “quiet time” doesn’t look like mine and that’s okay. The Lord will meet you wherever you are, all you have to do is open up your heart and talk to Him.

Hosea 6:3 “Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn, or the coming of rains in early spring.”

I am so thankful to serve a God who is faithful to respond to me when I call. Let us remember that no matter what your day may look like, that He is there. He has always been there. He is just waiting on us to lean back into His presence so He can work on transforming and renewing our hearts and minds.

Psalm 23:3 “He renews my strength…”

Friend, allow Him to renew your strength today. Allow the One who made you to renew you, to restore you.
